Why do hotel rooms always have bibles? When did the tradition start?

04 Jun

I just stayed at a nice hotel and just happened to open one of the drawers and found a bible donated by the “Gideons.” Why is there bibles in hotel rooms?

    Because the Gideons donated them.

I don’t know, some people might like to read the Bible before they go to bed. I did that once and had some crazy ass dreams.

Because the Gideons is an organization whose mission it is to litter hotels with Bibles. Instead of say actual charity.

The Gideons are the ones who started the business of supplying hotels and motels with Bibles.

Interestingly, no one has ever check into how well paid the executives of Gideons are.

I want to capture a gideon one day. They are probably small elves from Gidea. I’ll just call the front desk, I don’t seem to have a bible in my room. Then hide behind the curtains.

First thing I do when I get to a hotel: Throw the bible out the window or in the trash.

The Gideons began this custom in 1899 or thereabouts.
These Bibles are in the rooms so that those who want to read them can have that opportunity.

Actually, when I visit NYC, the hotel in which I stay has copies of the Bhagavad-Gita in each room.

By the way, it is part of a well-known, nation-wide chain.

The Gideons are a non-profit group who exist for the purpose of providing Bibles. They’re good people who do a great work. Hotel rooms have Bibles because the Gideons provide them free of charge. Soldiers have Bibles for the same reason.

I had a bad experience once, in a hotel room.

I opened up the Bible and read “Please leave here for next guest” so I promptly checked out. Had to sleep in my car and damned near froze to death.

    never again. never again.

So everyone that passes through can read about God,and learn of the blessed hope he has in- store for us humans.

The Gideon’s International hopes you will take the Bible home.

It’s for the people who want to read about Biblical stories, need paper to roll a joint, or when there is just not enough TP with all that porno you can get in your room.
