I am looking at hotels in this area and in the photos the beach looks small. I am wondering what the beach area looks like. Also, if you can give me any other information about this area in Fl that would be great.
What are the beaches like in the Tampa/Clearwater/ St. Pete Beach area?

The careful preservation of the diverse cultural heritages is one of the many reasons that Tampa Bay is such a fascinating place. With its diverse economy, Tampa Bay is not as dependent upon tourism as the rest of Florida, but meeting the needs of its visitors is still a large part of local business. Area average temperatures are mid 70’s year round and average of 361 days of sunshine. Some world class beaches abound in the St .Petersburg /Clearwater area with over 35 miles of white sand and two of the top ten beaches in the world. It can’t be beat for a vacation filled with sun, sand and culture. Major league sports are all represented in the area with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays making Tropicana Field, in Downtown St. Petersburg, its home. And, if that is not enough, Orlando’s major attractions are a short 90 minutes away. For family adventure, romance, or plain old R&R the Tampa Metro area is something special.

My favorite beach in the Tampa area was Fort Desoto.. It’s very long, a nice beach.. There are planty of picinic area’s all around as well.. It also got best beach in America 2 year ago..
Clearwater was a little more built up around the beach, still pretty, I just like to feel less city and more beachy, lower buildings and such.. St Pete’s beach was nice too.. Again pretty built up, not as much IMO as Clearwater, but still more so than I’d prefer.
If you don’t mind taking a drive check out Anna Maria Island. I loved the beach over there. Turtle and Bird sanctuarys. No high rise hotels. Just beautiful rolling waves.
Good Luck!

I regularly visit Clearwater Beach and the quality of the beaches depends largely on who is maintaining them. You will not find the wide, white sand beaches here that the Atlantic coast resorts have. Most of them are rather narrow, and some are pretty steep and gravel filled. The nicest hotel beaches that I’ve seen are the Sheraton Sand Key Resort and Hilton Beach Resort ones. Ironically, the best beach, in my opinion, is the public beach at Pinellas Park. It’s the sandiest, widest one and has a nice nature preserve closeby. If you’re looking for beaches like the ones in Daytona, Miami, or even Panama City, you won’t find them here. Nevertheless, it’s a beautiful part of Florida and not too touristy. Don’t go to any Florida beaches in March or April. Spring breakers make for terrible neighbors in hotels.

That area is nice. As to exact details, I do not know as I live in Miami, and go to the beaches here and across the state in Naples and Ft Meyers. Good Luck.
