Vacationing in Florida; the closest to Caribbean?

24 May

So we’ve visted Key West, Tampa/Clearwater beach and Cape Canaveral.

We’d like to visit a new beachy place here. Is there a ‘caribbean’ type of place here that’s not well known?

Thanks!

Sanibel Island is very nice. Marco Island is busy but nice. I don’t know if they’d qualify as caribbean – for that I would head directly to Miami Beach. Have a great vacation!

My parents are retired in the Sarasota area. I think the beaches are really beautiful there. The beaches on the keys right off of Sarasota are great (Lido, Siesta, Longboat and St. Armand’s Circle). They are known for their white sand beaches.
There are also lots of fun things to do and great restaurants on “the Circle” (St. Armands).
I would highly recommend vacationing there!
