Unless you speak Spanish, Miami is out. Miami is the only major city in the US where those who don’t speak English outnumber those who do.

The Tampa Bay area is very layed back, although like all cities in Florida it has more than its fair share of crime. Everyone that I met there though was extremely friendly, even the gentleman with whom I had a fender bender.

Try Clearwater Beach or Saint Petersburg Beach, the Gulf beaches are nicer than the Atlantic side of the state.
By the way, Tampa Bay is a body of water not a town.

Busch Gardens is on the North side of Tampa, interesting place.

They are rude in Miami. If you stop in a store they ask you why you are in Miami if you don’t speak Spanish. Tampa, St. Petersburg, etc are very nice. The people are friendly. There is Ybor City for nightlife, the beaches of Pinellas County, the Dali Museum, Busch Gardens, lots of plays and concerts.

Miami and Tampa are two very, very different places! You should really do some research to see which one is more appealing to you.

If you want action, variety, fast, chic, excellent food and nightlilfe go to Miami.

If you want wayyyyyyyyyy laid back, somewhat slow, possibly boring to some, not a lot of variety, more just real normal everything – then check out Tampa.

If you want to check out an adorable, unique, romantic, and charming beach town that isn’t like neither of the above you might consider Delray Beach, Florida.

The people are very friendly, there is a community feel with down to earth vibrations all throughout this beach town.

It’s on the East Coast side, just north of Ft. Lauderdale about 30 mins.
