If anyone knows how to take a piece of fabric and make it into a chair cover…Please let me know. I am willing to pay. I would rent but a lot of places dont have the color I want and there too expensive. So I am thinking that if I could go to a fabric store and get what I want and someone can help me with it… that would be perfect.

Can my parents get in trouble for my brother’s party?

My brother is 18 years old. Gasparilla is this coming Saturday. (FYI… if you don’t know what Gasparilla is, it’s similar to Mardi-Gras, and it’s held annually in Tampa, Florida.) He’s coming home from college for the weekend to go to the parade with a bunch of his old high school friends, and some of his college friends too.
He wants to have a party at our house afterwards. Nothing big, probably no more than 30 people would be here. He’s had one other party here over Winter Vacation with his friends, and there were only 20-25 people. Last time, my dad was at work (he’s a fireman, so he works overnight shifts) and was unaware of the party beforehand, but soon found out and was ok with it. My mom was home, and allowed it to happen. She did, however, stay up until 5AM making sure everyone had a safe and sober ride home.
Now, my brother wants to have another party, Febuary 7, 2009. Sort of an after-party for Gasparilla. My parents are less willing to allow it this time.
My brother’s argument for the party is:
He WILL be going to a party that night, that’s a given. If the party is in his own home, he’d be much safer than if he went somewhere else.
My parents’ argument against the party is:
It’s too big of a liability to hold a party. Most of the people here would be drunk, or in the process of getting drunk.
***NOTE: My parents do not keep alcohol in our house for personal reasons. The teens themselves would be bringing their own booze.
“If something happens”, my parent’s argument is that they’d be in legal trouble. That “something” would be like someone getting a DUI or getting in a car accident after leaving the party. There were pre-selected Designated Drivers at the last party, and there were no issues with this.
So, my question is, can my parents actually get in trouble? Just because some teenagers (all of them are the age of majority [all over 18, but under 21]) got drunk on their property, can my parents get sued or arrested if something happens?
P.S.:
The “age of majority” in FL is 18. You can join the army, vote, buy tobacco, etc.
The legal drinking age in FL is 21.
Hence the good ol’ argument, “I can die for my country but I can’t buy a beer.”

Hi Everyone.
I am surprising my husband and taking him to Tampa, Fl. for a Bucs home game for our anniversary. I know absolutely nothing about football, but he is a HUGE Bucs fan, so I want to give him a great time. Anyway, I always hear about “Tailgate Parties” before the games, and I’m wondering, what exactly is a tailgate party & do you need to be invited or can you just show up? Please help!!! I want to how this works, and if anyone knows where to find one on Dec. 10th? Do I need to get tickets, or reservations? I’m a real dummy when it comes to football, but I just want my husband to get to do it all! We’ll be coming from Las Vegas and have never been to Florida so I really have no idea! Thanks for any input!
